The UCLA Philharmonia heralds in the Fall quarter with a program of dance-inspired music from across the globe. Tonight's program includes the Hungarian-themed Galánta Dances by Zoltán Kodály, Halloween tone-poem Danse Macabre by Saint-Säens, the sensuous Danzón No. 4 by Arturo Marquez, Leonard Bernstein's Three Dance Episodes from "On the Town,"

Following Intermission is The Bamboula: Rhapsodic Dance For Orchestra by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Johann Strauss II's "Tales from the Vienna Woods", followed by Richard Strauss's "Dance of the Seven Veils" from "Salome,". The program concludes with the popular "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel.

This event is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2022 - 23 Dobrow Series.
