Creativity in the Courtyard: Hinamatsuri

Join us as we learn about the Shinto holiday Girl’s Day (Hinamatsuri) and make our own dolls (hina-ningyo) in celebration of International Women’s Month. In Japan, Girl’s Day is marked annually on March 3. Families with young daughters honor this event, translated as “doll festival,” by displaying special dolls (hina-ningyo). 

Creativity in the Courtyard is a series of art-making events inspired by our exhibitions and collections. Recommended for ages 4–10 and open to all!
