All about Yummy Bowls

Art bowls. Tasty goals. UCLA ceramics department in the School of the Arts and Architecture annually rallies to support campus food closet

For the last two years, faculty and students in the ceramics department of UCLA’s School of the Arts and Architecture have spent part of spring quarter furiously creating hundreds of bowls. These bowls are infused with the wit and creative spark of dozens of individuals and embody multiple forms of practice and style.

By May, these vessels, some traditional in shape and form, others more whimsical and quirky, become part of a fundraiser to benefit the UCLA Food Closet, which directly supports students in need.

These are Yummy Bowls.

Members of the community are invited to make a $20-per-bowl donation to a what we call a Spark campaign. Every $20 is good for one ticket, which benefactors pick up on site. You can peruse the available bowls and have them filled with a dish from the acclaimed chefs at LULU, enjoy a picnic lunch and take the bowls home.

Stay tuned on this website for details on this year’s event. Sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

Here’s a snapshot of the most-recent Yummy Bowls fundraiser, held in May 2023 outside the campus Broad Arts Center. We raised more than $10,000 for the UCLA Food Closet.
