There are many opportunities for employment in the arts at UCLA. Below are some open positions available to undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining valuable experience and deepening their connection with the arts. Whether you are interested contributing as a graphic designer or photographer, assisting with curatorial efforts, supporting communications and storytelling, or learning more about arts administration, there is an opportunity for you. All positions are paid.

Calling all Curators, Designers, Photographers, and Makers

  • The UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture Strategic Communications team is hiring a Designer in Residence for the 2022-23 academic year.  The qualified candidate will design a broad range of digital and print collateral for the school, including flyers, event posters, email and social media assets, motion graphics, and more. More info

  • The UCLA Department of Design Media Arts Fabrication and Electronics Lab is hiring a shop assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. Applicants should be self-motivated, able to work without supervision, and able to multitask effectively. Primary responsibilities include: operation of large tools including laser cutter and woodworking tools, restocking materials and other inventory, minor maintenance of tools and equipment, and shop cleanup. Opportunity for special projects based on interest and skill set. Specialized training will be provided.

  • The Fowler Museum and Islamic Studies Program at UCLA are hiring a graduate curatorial assistant to work on the exhibition project Visual and Sonic Landscapes of Muslim LA. Reporting to the Director of Education and Interpretation at the Fowler Museum, the graduate curatorial assistant will conduct and present research on the creative Muslim histories of Los Angeles and organize meetings with curators, academics, and artists, and filmmakers who are part of the Curatorial Collective.

  • The UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture Strategic Communications team is hiring a photographer/videographer for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will serve as resident photographer/videographer covering the school on a variety of assignments to create content for use in social media, press materials, and publications, and other uses as needed. More info

  • The UCLA Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI) is hiring a Graphic Design/Admin Support Student Worker for the 2022-23 academic year. A major part of the student’s workload will be to assist with marketing and design for various components of UEI programs, including the General Education curriculum, UCLA Cluster Program, Fiat Lux Seminars, freestanding minors (i.e., Disability Studies, Social Thought, Food Studies, and Community Engagement and Social Change) and the Center for Community Engagement (CCE). Additionally, this position will provide administrative support to the office of Undergraduate Education Initiatives and the Center for Community Engagement.

Calling all Writers, Storytellers, and Digital Media Communicators

  • The UCLA Film & Television Archive—a division of UCLA Library—is hiring a Student Communications Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will support the Archive’s public programs and special events promotions, compile audience feedback and media reports, and assist with other marketing and communications duties as needed.

  • The UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture Strategic Communications team is hiring a Student Social Media Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will draft and format content for social media, compile analytics reports across various platforms, and assist with special projects including photoshoots, publications, films, events, and targeted communications campaigns.   • The UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture Strategic Communications team is hiring a Story Producer in Residence for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will produce original stories and content for inclusion on the school’s various platforms, assist with copyediting and proofreading written materials, and conduct research to assist with storytelling, content production, and special projects. Calling all Arts Facilitators and Administrators

  • The UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design is hiring a Student Administrative Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will provide support for the Architecture & Urban Design (AUD) department's main office including reception, sorting and filing, e-mail monitoring and correspondence, room booking, database input, and other support as needed.

  • The Hammer Museum at UCLA is hiring a Development Student Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will support the Hammer Museum development team, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer and Manager of Advancement Database & Operations, with a variety of administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the department including: support with mailing, proposal development, prospect research, archiving development related materials; support the planning and organization of donor and membership events, including the K.A.M.P, Gala and other special events; event planning such as creating invitations, event check-in, managing event inventory, event set-up/tear down, and providing guests with exceptional visitor experience.   • The Hammer Museum at UCLA is hiring a Facilities Student Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will be responsible for setup and breakdown for various Museum programs and events. The Facilities Student Assistant will help with tasks such as setup of tables and chairs, moving furniture, clean-up and general event duties. They will assist in all aspects of custodial and clean-up duties, including but not limited to: trash removal and disposal, sweeping, mopping, cleaning and restocking restrooms, dusting, and vacuuming of public and administration areas of the building.   • The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television is hiring a Facilities Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will help maintain the theater, usher patrons to their seats for select events, assist with event setup and breakdown, and implementing emergency procedures when necessary.

  • The Fowler Museum at UCLA is hiring a Fowler Out Loud Coordinator for the 2022-23 academic year. Fowler Out Loud is an evening concert series that invites UCLA students from various disciplines to perform at the Museum.The qualified candidate will support the Fowler Out Loud series and public programs by leading the development of a schedule and executing events for Fowler Out Loud performances; serve as liaison to performers, security, and museum staff; and coordinate and purchase program supplies.

  • The Fowler Museum at UCLA is hiring a Fowler Student Educator for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will attend quarterly discussions with the Fowler staff about museum education, curatorial practice, conservation, collections management, publications, and development; lead in-gallery conversations focused on art and other cultural materials on view in the museum; and assist with the organization and implementation of the museum’s professional development series for teachers.

The qualified candidate will create a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors by answering questions, providing information about the exhibitions, and promoting membership.   • The Hammer Museum is hiring a Gallery Operations Student Lead for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will ensure galleries are posted correctly, ensure continuity of expertise and knowledge of artworks, assist with visitor interactions and may assist with some administrative duties that pertain to training or daily operations, including necessary updates to deployments and break schedules as needed.   • The UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design is hiring Student IT Support for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will provide basic IT and AV support in the multiple tech facilities at Perloff Hall including account creation, data entry, hardware and software support, and equipment troubleshooting.

  • The Fowler Museum at UCLA is hiring an Office Assistant for the 2022-23 academic year. The qualified candidate will perform essential clerical duties such as monitoring phones and mail, maintaining files, monitoring inventory supplies, and arranging guest parking.
